Our Story

August 4, 2008 sitting in the Vegas airport my husband turns to me out of the blue and says "I think we should adopt a baby from Africa."Little did he know that 2 weeks prior I had started praying for that very thing!

I always thought adoption was a very nice thing that "other" people did, but I never gave it much thought. Adam was definitely not interested at ALL!! He just couldn't see himself raising a child that wasn't his. We started the adventure in parenthood about 2 and half years after we married and then a second & third followed...I always thought we'd have one more. But after a hard recovery from the third I knew I didn't want to go through that again. I personally think it was all part of "The Plan"! My heart started to soften towards adoption- especially the children of Africa! What devastation in that country!! So many children with out parents!! Such hopelessness!! So in July of 08 sitting in church listening to a pastor's journey from a trip to Swaziland, my heart broke! It broke in a BIG way! I just knew that God was calling me to Africa. I also knew Adam's heart had never leaned towards adoption, so on that Sunday in church, I prayed for my husband's heart. Never mentioning a word to him about it. But I'm guessing that something was happening in his heart that very day. Because just 2 little short weeks after praying for him- is when he turned to me and said we should adopt, and from Africa even!!! Who says God doesn't answer prayers!?? : )

So here we are in April of 2010- still waiting for that dream & calling to be fulfilled. We have decided that we are going to press into it and see what doors God opens for us. My oldest daughter Mackenzy shared with me this morning that she hears her sister Jada, say many prayers for her baby brother to come home to us. Aren't children so sweet and innocent?! I think they may understand a lot more about faith & trust then most adults!!

So as we start this journey we would so appreciate your prayers & love & any suggestions you may have along with lots wisdom!
